This boy brings his toy dog every week and when ‘Oona’ went to sleep ( but still listening to the reading with her eyes shut) he put his toy dog on her back to share the nap!! ‘Oona helps students at Sandringham East Primary School in Victoria.
Story Dogs is very lucky to have two amazing new volunteers, Rosa, Mauro and Attila their dog who have donated their time and skills to put on a fundraising gourmet lunch at the 100 Mile Table restaurant in Byron Bay. The owners of the restaurant Sarah and Jeremy and our two Story Dogs coordinators Lenna and Marilyn also played a big part in the success of the auctions, raffles and filling the seats to overflowing with locals. The cuisine was exquisite, the company wonderful and the venue very down to earth and just right for a Story Dogs gig. Over $3,500 was raised and will be put towards sponsoring Attila and other local Story Dogs. A HUGE thanks from all the Story Dogs team.
‘Maggie’ the Story Dog helps children at Lismore South Public School in northern NSW. ‘Maggie’ and Anne started in June this year. With the help of a Community Support Funding grant from ETC Story Dogs has been able to start a new region in Lismore during 2016. Lismore South is one of six new schools that have joined the program as part of the ETC project. ‘Maggie’ is also special as she has been sponsored by a local business, the Flock Cafe, so visit Sarah at the Flock Cafe in Woodlark Street for a great coffee that also supports helping local children learn to read.
‘Stumpy’ and Cindy who help students at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Primary School, Sunbury are featured in the latest Catholic Education Today magazine for Term 3. This is the front page and click here to read the whole article. Definitely worth the read.
